After 30 years of rowing all different kinds of oars, I know the best feel and stroke comes from a single piece of wood with a shoal cut blade. Since no other company makes such an oar, I decided to stop complaining and produce a product. These Oars are made out of 400-1000 year old sinker Cypress and manufactured by Southern Wood Paddle Company. The Oar is made with traditional methods of hand hews and knives.

The SmartBoat Oar is made out of salvaged and re-purposed wood to minimize environmental impact. The Oars are made from old-growth, sinker cypress recovered from the low-country region of South Carolina.
